Our Mission

Woke Lit Women was founded to create a digital community for Black, Indigenous, and women of color to share their unfiltered narratives through written, collaborative, and creative work.

Woke Lit Women is a community of BIPOC women, femmes, and non-binary leaders, trailblazers, activists, first-gens, and creatives dedicated to empowering one another’s narratives, celebrate those who inspire us and support us, and collaborate with each other to create tangible change in our communities.

WOKE

No, we’re not talking about performative “wokeness” for clout. We aim to spread research-based digital information for womxn to be aware of issues that are affecting our everyday lives locally, nationally, and internationally. We focus on creating a community of young leaders by providing accessible information around topics of social justice, with a focus on action steps. It is one thing to be aware of the issues, but it is much more powerful to take action and demand change.

LIT

As womxn we are often denied our right to political, economic, social, and sexual freedom. We don’t stan. Not only are we cultivating a community of woke womxn, but we are also empowering womxn to realize political, economic, social, and sexual freedom in their own lives. Our LITerary corner provides womxn the freedom to write and express their own narratives and take control of their own lives, both through creative literary forms and in real life.
